In pursuit of enhancing the delivery of basic services and facilities in the City of Marikina, a ceremonial turnover of completed FY 2022 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) projects to barangays of District II was held on February 11, 2024 at Parang Playground, Barangay Parang, City of Marikina. Among the projects were the provision of rescue vehicles, disaster preparedness and response supplies and equipment.

The activity was spearheaded by Hon. Stella Luz A. Quimbo, District II Representative of the City of Marikina, Former Representative Atty. Miro Quimbo, Hon. Mary Jane Zubiri-dela Rosa, Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) President, DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III, and DILG Marikina City Director Mary Jane S.E. Nacario, CESO V. Also present in the event were the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials and constituents of the seven (7) barangays namely: Concepcion Uno, Concepcion Dos, Fortune, Marikina Heights, Parang, Nangka, and Tumana.

In her message, RD Agustin highlighted that the LGSF is a program of the national government that aims to provide support to local government units to ensure the effective implementation of priority programs, projects, activities, and services. She then expressed her gratitude towards concerned government institutions for providing technical and administrative assistance that aid in the successful completion of the said projects.

District Representative Quimbo underscored the need for rescue vehicles and disaster response equipment, especially since the City of Marikina is a low-lying area in the National Capital Region. She also mentioned that these projects were intended to assist not only the barangays that received the projects but other barangays as well. The activity concluded with a blessing of the projects and a motorcade around the city.
