Two NCR LGUs received “Bike Lane” Awards during the National Bike Day Awards 2022 ceremony held at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City on November 27, 2022, and livestreamed on several government Facebook pages.
Spearheaded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Bike Lane Awards is an event recognizing Local Government Units (LGUs) that demonstrated outstanding initiative in promoting active transportation among citizens and for designating bike lanes on their city streets for the exclusive use of cyclists.
This year’s top three performers are Iloilo City which took the Gold Award, Quezon City which won Silver and Mandaue City for the Bronze Award.
Under the Wheel for Work Program of the Makati Business Club (MBC) and Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI), the top performers will also receive bicycles – 20 bicycles for the Gold Awardee, 15 bicycles for the Silver Awardee, and 10 bicycles for the Bronze Awardee.
Other award winners were Pasig City, which received the Exemplary Award for Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation of bike lane projects and given a prize of two bicycles. Taguig City was also recognized as one of the finalists Bike Lane Awards and received 2 bicycles for their efforts.
