The Quezon City Government made headway in implementing Executive Order No. 70, with its hosting of the Capacitating Urban Communities for Peace and Development (CUCPD) Consensus Summit last December 04.

CUCPD takes off from the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) tailored for urban communities in NCR. The program aims to empower the grassroots in addressing peace and development concerns by providing necessary government services and interventions. It is one of the initiatives formed for the implementation of Executive Order 70 to end communism.

The summit highlights all stakeholders’ roles in the CUCPD implementation and pursuing peace development efforts. It is part of #PEACEQC, or the People Empowered Assisted Championed and Embraced for a Quality City, the peace and order platform of Quezon City.
The Quezon City Task Force for CUCPD, in coordination with DILG Quezon City Field Office, Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Task Force-NCR (AFP JTF-NCR) conducted the activity. Assistant City Administrator for Operations Alberto Kimpo and QC Task Force-CUCPD Action Officer Head of Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) General Elmo San Diego spearheaded the Summit preparations.

Among the topics tackled in the summit are concerns on the operationalization of EO No. 70, preventing and countering violent extremism, and the RCSP.

Mayor Joy Belmonte presented the accomplishments of Quezon City on the operationalization of EO No. 70.

A highlight of the activity is the Pledge of Commitment led by Belmonte, AFP JTF NCR B/Gen Marceliano V Teofilo, DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin, QCPD District Director PB/Gen Danilo Pepino Macerin, 142 Quezon City Punong Barangays, and key stakeholders to affirm their engagement in the pursuit of lasting peace and development in the city. #
