The local government units (LGUs) of the National Capital Region (NCR) expressed their support to the nationwide launching of KADIWA ng Pangulo (KNP) last July 17, 2023, by setting up market stalls and booths, or “KADIWA Stores” within their jurisdiction.

KADIWA or “Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita” ng Pangulo, is a program designed to provide customers and consumers access to high-quality yet affordable goods and commodities by linking them directly with farmers, fisherfolks, and micro-enterprises.

The KNP benefits farmers, fisherfolks, and micro-entrepreneurs by giving them direct access to consumers in the region’s centers of population. By doing so, KNP enables them to capture a substantially larger share in the value chain, thereby improving incomes.

Led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., the KNP was formalized at the San Fernando Capitol Grounds, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding among national government agencies, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), that are charged with implementing the KNP nationwide.

The DILG-NCR urges the local chief executives of NCR to support, sustain, and expand KADIWA stores so that these may reach an even larger base of consumers and actualize the objectives behind the program in even more meaningful ways.

The KNP is expected to boost overall food security in the Philippines, tame food inflation, and strengthen the agricultural sector across the board.
