The DILG-NCR welcomed five new interns in an onboarding activity held on July 1, 2022 via Zoom. The student interns, enrolled in the DILG-NCR’s Internship and Volunteerism Program, are from the University of the Philippines – National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG), the University of the Philippines – Los Baños (UPLB), and the Trinity University of Asia (TUA).

Ms. Alyn G. Tolentino, AO IV/HRMO II and OIC of the Personnel Section briefed the interns on the administrative requirements covering their internship i.e. submission of Daily Time Record, Vaccine Card. Also taken up was adherence by the interns to health protocols and the dress code while inside the office.

Relatedly, LGOO V Jonathan O. Garbo gave a rundown on the ongoing PPAs being undertaken by each division in DILG-NCR and the personnel in charge of these PPAs.

LGOO V Kelvin John P. Gaen, lead of the Student Internship Program discussed the DILG outcome framework to deepen the understanding and immersion of the interns to the organization. The interns were encouraged to share their own insights and solutions to achieve the outcomes in the envisioned framework.

The student interns are expected to do around 200 hours of actual hands-on and in-person or virtual training over a period extending to August 2022. The Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) is tasked to handle the student internship program proper and assist the interns with their final requirements.

The inclusion of the UP-NCPAG, UPLB, and TUA into the Student Internship Program signifies an important milestone in the efforts of the Center for the Advancement of Local Governance (CALG) to expand the network of institutions which it interacts and collaborate with to advance its Knowledge Management thrusts and Knowledge Convergence agenda.
