The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), through its Local Government Capability Development Division-Project Development and Management Unit (LGCDD-PDMU), launched on June 15, 2023, a coffee table book entitled “Creating People-Centric Spaces.” The book showcases the projects initiated by Local Government Units (LGUs) in Metro Manila that were funded under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III, led the ribbon-cutting and book launch ceremony together with LGCDD Chief Helen A. Verzosa and Assistant Division Chief Luigi D.C. Pilarta.

Regional Director Agustin commended the Local Chief Executives who initiated, developed, and implemented the projects featured in the book, all of which were designed in response to the needs of local communities and thus represent the best use of resources made available under LGSF.

The aforementioned projects cover a range of public services and facilities which include: the improvement of public parks and spaces, the installation of street lights, the construction of drainage systems, bicycle lanes, evacuation centers, community playgrounds, and medical laboratory facilities, among many others. These projects are all scaled at the level of local communities and designed to strengthen the trust between local governments and their constituents.

Regional Director Agustin noted that the coffee table book was purposely produced and edited to enhance readability – delivering project narratives that the intended audience can readily understand and appreciate. The book also reflects the transparency and accountability principles that drive good local governance and best practices.

The coffee table book will be distributed to all LGUs, DILG Field Offices, and other offices concerned and proffered as a token of the national government’s appreciation for the initiatives undertaken by LGUs in the service of local communities.

The “Creating People-Centric Spaces” Coffee Table Book was produced by the PDMU, led by Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) V Dennis R. de Paz, with LGOO III Engr. Nicholas Ray B. Badiable, Engr. May C. Morillo, Engr. Glenn B. Murillo, LGOO III Maria Rosario L. Insigne, Information Officer II Byron P. Nabua, and Information Systems Analyst II Marc Allen B. Mojica.
