The Department of Interior and Local Government-National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) celebrates its 33rd anniversary concurrently with Local Government Week from October 11 to 15, 2021.
The DILG Taguig Field Office hosted the Monday morning “Banyuhay” with the theme “Amplifying multitude of voices in local governance” to start the week-long celebration via Zoom. They invited Taguig City Mayor Lino Edgardo S. Cayetano as guest speaker. Mayor Cayetano said that DILG-NCR has been and continues to be a unifying and empowering force among NCR-LGUs and an inspiration to all in local governance to reach for even greater heights of achievement. “Our role is to raise each other up,” the Taguig City mayor emphasized.
The joyous 33rd anniversary celebration will have as its theme: “Tatlumpu’t Tatlong Taong Matino, Mahusay at Maaasahang Paglilingkod sa Bayan”, the rallying cry of the dedicated women and men of DILG-NCR. The theme captures the spirit of service that pervades the DILG-NCR family – the same spirit that saw it through more than three decades of meeting problems head-on and coming up with creative solutions.
The DILG-NCR is well-positioned today, organizationally, structurally, and strategically, to deal with the increasing complexity of challenges. Even as it grapples with current issues of COVID-19 response, health, public safety, peace and order, welfare, economics, and many more, it is clear-eyed about the direction it should take in the years ahead.
The celebration will culminate in a tribute to the pioneers and trailblazers who shepherded the DILG-NCR from its early beginnings to the vibrant and dynamic institution that it is today.
