In a noteworthy demonstration of regional solidarity and cooperation, the Malabon City Field Office under the leadership of OIC City Director Jess Marie A. Acoba, hosted the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region’s (DILG – NCR) Regional Team Conference (RTC) on September 15, 2023, in conjunction with the Malabon City Government. The event, held at the Penthouse of Malabon City Hall, assembled executives from the Regional Office and all seventeen Field Offices of DILG-NCR.

The conference was presided over by Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III, and Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn Baltazar-Cortez, CESO V. The RTC, which is convened regularly, serves as a forum for high-level discussions concerning office plans and budgets, as well as updates on concerns related to the implementation of various Regional and Field Office programs, projects, and activities (PPAs).

During the RTC, RD Agustin expressed her gratitude to the field office executives for their dedication and commitment to meeting their respective deliverables on time and on budget, even as she acknowledged the effective program implementation and best practices of each Field Office in promoting good governance.

The conference received a warm reception from Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and LGU functionaries. Malabon City’s senior staff gave the NCR delegation a tour of Malabon City’s important sites and landmarks such as the San Bartolome Church and Cemetery, the Immaculate Conception Church, and an exquisitely preserved house in the City that harkens back to Malabon’s historic grandeur.

Mayor Sandoval emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among stakeholders to foster growth, progress, and harmony within the NCR. In her address, she underscored the role of transparency and accountability in upholding good governance and advocated for policies that align with the needs of the community.

The RTC can justifiably point to significant successes in critical governance areas essential for the sustainment of the development of the NCR, including regional cooperation, capacity-building, the setting of high local governance standards and urban development.

RD Agustin, in her message, expressed her deepest appreciation to Mayor Sandoval and the DILG Malabon Field Office for their exceptional efforts in hosting and organizing the RTC. The DILG – NCR Regional Team Conference at Malabon City Hall exemplifies the spirit of unity, shared vision, and a commitment to excellence that continues to propel progress in the NCR.
