Officials from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh paid a visit to the City of Manila to learn about local governance in the country.
DILG Manila Field Office, led by City Director Atty. Rolynne Javier, together with Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau Chief Atty. Solfia Arboladura facilitated the study tour of 47 Bangladeshi officials, and oriented them on the structure and functions of LGUs, as well as the programs in the City of Manila.
The officials also met with Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada, who welcomed them to the country’s capital. They also toured the Manila City Hall and the Emergency Response and Assistance Program Center.
One of the highlights of the study tour is their visit to Barangay 668, where they interacted with barangay officials led by Punong Barangay Flordeliza Bayan. The visitors were given a tour of the facilities of the barangay; they were also able to witness barangay officials in action as they provide services to their constituents. Programs, projects as well as services extended by the barangay were also discussed with the officials.
Apart from learning about local governance, they also toured the historic Intramuros, where they were able to learn the country’s history and culture.
Another contingent from Bangladesh is set to visit Manila later this year.
