The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) portal was launched on October 13, 2021, three days into DILG-NCR’s week-long 33rd Anniversary celebration with DILG Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns Atty. Odilon Pasaraba as guest of honor.

In his message, Asec. Pasaraba commends DILG-NCR’s initiatives to make the SGLG more accessible and more open. “It is only apt that innovations such as the SGLG come into fruition…as it represents the nexus of technology, transparency, and data-driven governance,” he said.

The Regional Information and Communication Unit (RICTU) of DILG-NCR developed the portal and demonstrated how to navigate the page during the launch. Since its inception in 2014, the SGLG has served as the vehicle to award, incentivize and recognize LGUs that have achieved and sustained high levels of performance on 10 key areas of governance: financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, health compliance, education, competitiveness, peace and order, environmental management, tourism, and youth development.

Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn R. Baltazar-Cortez CESO V added that the SGLG portal, being an ICT knowledge management solution, is expected to further elevate the transparency, objectivity and accountability standards of the SGLG assessment process and better enable DILG-NCR to give due recognition to LGUs that perform exemplarily based on the governance areas abovementioned.

After the launch of the portal, the Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD) officiated a Quiz Bee and an essay-writing contest centered on the Local Government Code. The contests are part of the week-long program of anniversary activities, and featured contestants from every department and field office of DILG-NCR. The contestants matched wits with one another and quizzed on their knowledge of the Local Government Code.
