In a ceremonial activity held on June 25, 2025 at the Office of the City Mayor, Quezon City Hall, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) officially turned over the CY 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) Project of Quezon City—an Automated Weather Station (AWS). The project will be used by the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QC DRRMO) to enhance the city’s disaster preparedness and strengthen its climate resilience efforts through timely and accurate weather data.

As one of the eleven (11) CY 2023 SGLG awardees in the region, the Quezon City Government utilized its Php 2.3 million SGLGIF incentive to procure the AWS and its supporting equipment, aimed at improving local monitoring systems and early warning capabilities in the face of climate-related risks.

Present during the turnover ceremony were Mayor Josefina “Joy” Belmonte; DILG-NCR Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn R. Baltazar-Cortez, CESO IV; DILG Quezon City Field Office Director Emmanuel D. Borromeo, CESO V; QC DRRMO Head Bianca Perez; and other functionaries from the said local government unit.

The DILG-NCR reaffirms its commitment to supporting local governments in implementing high-impact projects that promote safety, resilience, and sustainable development across communities in the region.
