The DILG National Capital Region and Quezon City University (QCU) reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening urban governance in barangays of Metro Manila through the first coordination meeting for the development of advanced training modules held on February 27, 2025, at the DILG-NCR Matino Room in North Avenue, Quezon City.
The meeting was attended by key representatives from both institutions, including QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, Research Management Office Director Mr. Angelito P. Bautista, and Ms. Candice Erika J. Rudi and Ms. Jodi Ann E. Pilar. From the DILG-NCR, the participants who joined were the Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) Acting Chief Luigi D.C. Pilarta, LGCDD Section Chief Dennis R. de Paz, and LGOO III Ma. Pamela G. Ferino.
Discussions focused on aligning DILG-NCR’s capacity development programs for 2025 with the advanced modules drafted by QCU. The meeting facilitated an in-depth review of the said modules, incorporating feedback to ensure their effectiveness in real-world governance scenarios. Key points included integrating the modules with existing barangay training initiatives, adding practical case studies, and enhancing the curriculum with interactive exercises and workshops.
This collaboration stems from a formalized Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between DILG-NCR and the Quezon City Government on November 11, 2024. The partnership aims to equip barangay officials with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of urban governance, ultimately promoting more efficient and responsive local leadership.
