
As part of its unwavering commitment to nurture and empower advocates on safe workspaces, the DILG National Capital Region provided technical assistance to personnel of Program Management Offices of the Department on RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act of 2018.
Personnel of the program management offices of the Support for the Local Governance Program, Center Office Disaster Information Coordinating Center, Localization of EO70, Decentralization and Local Governance Reform Advocacy Program, Information Systems and Technology Management Service, and Emergency 911 actively took part in the discussion.
Local Government Operations Officer III Mary Criselle B. Mejillano of LGCDD introduced “Women LEAD: Advancing Human Resource Development by Fostering Inclusive, Resilient, Safe, and Transformative Spaces (Advancing HRD FIRSTS)” as one of DILG-NCR’s capacity building innovations for its personnel on gender sensitivity in the workplace. An installment of Advancing HRD FIRSTS was also conducted with personnel of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE), marking a significant advancement in DILG-NCR’s advocacies on gender and development.
LGCDD Assistant Chief Maria Jasmin D. Diaz, Lead of the Committee on Training and Advocacy of the DILG-NCR GAD Focal Point System, tackled the salient provisions of RA 11313, and highlighted mandated institutional mechanisms that enforce gender sensitivity and inclusivity. Discussions emphasized the need to effectively institutionalize GAD-related mechanisms in program management offices to safeguard welfare of personnel.
Through the Women LEAD: Advancing HRD FIRSTS initiative, DILG-NCR remains committed to advancing its advocacies on gender sensitivity and inclusivity, ensuring that all its personnel maximize their potential without fear.
