In celebration of the 127th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the DILG National Capital Region, together with the DILG Central Office, actively participated in the Kalayaan 2025: Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo, hosted by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) from June 10 to 11, 2025, at the Central Lagoon of the Luneta Park in the City of Manila. The impactful showcase of DILG-NCR at Kalayaan 2025 earned a commendation from DILG Assistant Secretary for Human Resource Development Josephine F. Cabrido Leysa, CESO III.
As part of the celebration, the DILG-NCR hosted a dynamic and engaging booth display highlighting its continued commitment to good governance and public service, while also promoting local culture and delicacies across Metro Manila.
A standout attraction at the DILG-NCR’s Kalayaan booth was the interactive game “Roleta ng Kalayaan,” created to entertain and engage visitors. Participants were invited to like the DILG National Capital Region Facebook page and share a selfie taken at the booth, tagging the DILG-NCR page. Every visitor who took part in spinning the “Roleta ng Kalayaan” won special prizes from the National Capital Region.
Among the featured local delicacies and items on the first day were fish chips, fish sauce, dried dilis, and bagoong (from the City of Navotas), handwoven purses (from the City of Muntinlupa), bayongeras, halo-halo ingredients, peanut butter, and custom notepads (from the City of Malabon). The second day of the booth festivities showcased calamansi juice concentrate (from the City of San Juan), salted eggs (from the Municipality of Pateros), Tipas hopia, ube halaya, and inutak (from Taguig City), and healthy chips (from the City of Valenzuela).
In addition to the festive atmosphere, DILG-NCR also operated a Public Assistance and Complaints Desk (PACD) at the booth. This service allowed visitors to inquire about DILG’s programs, raise local governance concerns, and seek assistance on issues related to DILG mandates. The desk served as a direct link between the government and citizens, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and community partnership.
The DILG’s Kalayaan booth was met with enthusiasm from the public and served as an avenue for promoting awareness of government programs, as well as showcasing the rich and diverse offerings of NCR’s LGUs. Also, this initiative successfully blended cultural appreciation with public service, drawing hundreds of visitors over the course of the two-day event. It served as a platform for promoting good governance, regional pride, and citizen engagement.
The DILG National Capital Region expresses its appreciation to all partners, LGUs, and visitors who made the event successful, reaffirming its commitment to bringing government services closer to the people through innovation, engagement, and local pride.
