The Workshop on the Documentation and Development of Audio-Visual Presentations for the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLG-IF) Projects in the National Capital Region was held last October 18, 2024 at the Privato Hotel in Quezon City. The said activity aims to equip invited local functionaries and field officers with technical and creative skills on the documentation of the Seal of Good Local Governance-Incentive Fund (SGLG-IF) projects that they have implemented in their respective local government units, all of which will be showcased in the SGLG-IF National Expo to be held later in November 2024. Spearheading the documentation workshop process were the personnel from the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) and the Public Information Unit (PIU) of the DILG National Capital Region.

In her opening remarks, DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III highlighted the efforts of the local functionaries and field officers in attendance, in which she emphasized that the goals and vision behind these projects are rooted in promoting transparency, accountability, and excellence in local governance. She further reiterated to further demonstrate and realize the successes of the local government units in the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by actively sharing the vision of good governance through the visual outputs that will be presented to the general public.

“More than just videos, these audio-visual presentations are powerful tools for storytelling. They allow us to showcase the tangible outcomes of the projects, the challenges that our local governments have overcome through the years, and the transformed lives of the communities as a result of these initiatives,” RD Agustin mentioned.

LGOO III Keenu Lopez then proceeded to discuss the updates on the SGLG-IF as well as the timelines to consider in the creation of the audio-visual outputs. LGOO V and Regional Information Officer Ronald R. Portales presented the communication strategies and tips on effective storytelling through scriptwriting and storyboarding, all of which proved vital in creating storylines that will vary in the presentation of the local government units. Information Officer II Byron P. Nabua then demonstrated and discussed basic photography and creation of audio-visual presentations, most especially the specifics that the participants will be required to submit for the compilation of all LGU outputs.

After the discussions from the resource speakers, a workshop on basic photography and storyboarding was held which served as a guide for the participants in kickstarting their documentation of SGLG-IF projects. LGOO VI Section Chief Marda Alina Dumaoang-Acoba then further synthesized the takeaways and outputs from the said activity. She then stressed the submission deadlines of the outputs and initiated constant open communication between the resource speakers and the participants in the creation of their respective AVPs.

In closing, LGMED Assistant Division Chief Charizza Laccay thanked the participants for actively engaging and contributing important points to consider in the workshop held. She then gave reminders on other LGMED programs, projects, and activities related to the SGLG.

The conduct of creative workshops on the development and documentation of SGLG AVPs is one of many initiatives of the DILG National Capital Region in strengthening collaborations within local government units in promoting excellence in local governance through different multimedia platforms.
