The Makati City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), in coordination with DILG Makati Field Office is currently conducting a three-phase training for the formulation of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) Plans.

Last July 24, the first phase of the activity commenced and was attended by BADAC members of the City’s 33 barangays. DILG Makati field officers and MADAC representatives were also present in the activity.

Phase one highlighted the importance of BADAC as the first line of defense against illegal drugs. Resource persons from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and DILG Makati Field Office discussed strengthening drug clearing operation at the barangay level and reorientation of the roles and functions of BADAC.

The training is currently on its second phase; BADAC members were given a week to conduct rapid area assessment to gather information that will give them a picture of the various drug-related issues within their communities. Data gathered will be the foundation of their BADAC Plan.

For the last phase of the activity, the participants will present their prototype for critiquing and evaluation by PDEA, City Prosecutors, Philippine National Police-Makati and DILG Makati Field Office.

The barangays will incorporate the changes during the evaluation and finalize their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Committee Plan of Action (BADAC Plan) for integration to their 2018 Annual Investment Plan.
