In a historic milestone for the National Capital Region (NCR), 14 local government units (LGUs) were conferred the highly-coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for CY 2024 on December 9, 2024, during the awarding ceremony held at The Tent City, Manila Hotel, marking a significant chapter in the DILG-NCR ten-year’s journey of promoting excellence in local governance.

The Cities of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasig, San Juan, Valenzuela, Quezon City, and Pasay City are among the 714 local government units (LGUs) nationwide that earned this prestigious recognition. These 14 LGUs triumphed in the rigorous SGLG Assessment Cycle, successfully meeting the high standards set by the multi-level evaluation process, reflecting their strong commitment to upholding the core principles of good governance across ten (10) key Governance Areas.

Among the remarkable highlights of the National Awarding, the cities of Caloocan and Mandaluyong received special recognition for their unprecedented eight-time consecutive SGLG winning streak since 2015, underscoring their enduring dedication to good governance. Also, the cities of Las Piñas, Makati, and Manila are the first-time LGU passers this year.

The SGLG awardees were formally recognized during the event by DILG officials, with the 14 local chief executives (LCEs) proudly receiving their seals. The awardees were:
