The DILG-NCR, through the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program Regional Management Team (MBCRPP-RMT), commenced this year’s implementation of the 2022 Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA) with the assembly of its Regional Validation Team (RVT).

The DILG-NCR and Pangisda Pilipinas, along with its new RVT members, namely, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-NCR, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD)-NCR, Philippine National Police Maritime Group, Pangingisda Natin Gawing Tama (PaNaGaT), and Tanggol Kalikasan, were oriented on the process and tools to be used during the validation and the timeline within which to complete their tasks. The orientation was conducted on March 23, 2023.

Subsequently, on March 24, 2023, the five coastal LGUs of NCR, particularly the Cities of Las Pinas, Manila, Navotas, Paranaque, and Pasay, were also provided guidance and help in preparing the necessary Means of Verification (MOVs) submissions and refreshed on the tools to be used by the RVT in its work.

LGUs will be assessed based on their performance in the implementation of policies pertaining to the management of their municipal waters and aquatic resources for the year 2022.

The table assessments and onsite inspections will begin on April 12, 2023 and will end on April 18, 2023. This will be followed by the Regional Validation Team’s deliberation on the findings on April 19, 2023.

The FishCA was established by the DILG in order to monitor compliance of LGUs to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2018-59 and R.A. No. 8550 (Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998) as amended by R.A. No. 10654.
