The Philippine Information Agency-National Capital Region (PIA-NCR), the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG–NCR), the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Capital Region (BFP–NCR), and the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), convened an Exploratory Meeting to reinforce inter-agency collaboration in line with the observance of Fire Prevention Month and the intensified campaign against misinformation. Representing the DILG-NCR were Regional Information Officer Ronald Portales, LGOO III Paul Sargei Azurin, and LGOO V Raphael Calico.
The meeting underscored the importance of a unified and proactive approach in promoting fire safety awareness and ensuring the dissemination of accurate, verified information to the public. Recognizing the vital role of grassroots engagement, the participating agencies emphasized the active involvement of barangays as frontliners in community mobilization and information dissemination.
As part of the proposed initiatives for Fire Prevention Month, BFP–NCR will lead intensified fire safety inspections, community drills, and public education campaigns, while NCRPO will bolster security coordination and support enforcement efforts. DILG–NCR will mobilize local government units (LGUs) and barangays to integrate fire prevention strategies into their local action plans and preparedness programs.
Parallel to this, PIA–NCR will spearhead strategic communication efforts to counter misinformation, particularly on issues affecting public safety and security. The agencies agreed to harmonize messaging and maximize digital platforms, community assemblies, and barangay networks to ensure that verified and timely information reaches every sector.
DILG–NCR reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships and empowering barangays as key partners in safeguarding communities. By aligning operational strategies and communication efforts, the agencies aim to foster a culture of preparedness, vigilance, and informed citizenship across the National Capital Region.
The exploratory meeting marks a significant step toward a more coordinated, community-driven approach to public safety—anchored on collaboration, transparency, and shared responsibility.
