The cities of Navotas, Makati, and Pasay were the top performers of the 2020 Manila Bay Clean-up Rehabilitation and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) assessment.
Navotas placed first on the assessment, which scored 96.7%, followed by Makati with 96.2%, and Pasay with 96%. As top performers, said LGUs shall receive a financial grant which they can use to support their program, projects, and activities in implementing the MBCRPP.
Navotas will receive P300,000, while Makati will be awarded P200,000 and Pasay with P100,000.
The 17 NCR LGUs were assessed on the following areas for compliance: liquid waste management, solid waste management, informal settler families, information and education campaign, and institutional arrangements.
DILG-NCR hosted the awarding ceremony last March 12 in Quezon City. Present in the ceremony are key officials from the 17 NCR LGUs and MBCRP focal persons of DILG-NCR field offices.
Member agencies of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee (RIAC) also attended the ceremony: Metro Manila Development Authority, National Housing Authority, Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR) – NCR, DENR Environment Management Bureau-NCR, Laguna Lake Development Authority, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, Manila Water Company, Inc., Manila Water Services, Inc., Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development, Department of Public Works and Highways, and Department of Science and Technology-NCR.
The RIAC assessed the LGUs through documentary review; feedback was also provided for improvement areas to the LGUs through exit conferences which were done virtually following health protocols.
Also recognized in the ceremony are exemplary performers in the five assessment areas. For liquid waste management, Pasay earned the top spot with 94.67%. For solid waste management, Malabon and Parañaque placed first with 98.33%.

Las Piñas, Makati, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, and Navotas received a citation for the information and education campaign.
The MBCRPP assessment is done annually as part of the initiatives in line with the Supreme Court Mandamus for Manila Bay. #
