The Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) convened key government agencies and stakeholders for the 1st Quarter Calendar Year 2026 Joint Regional Task Force–National Capital Region (JRTF-NCR) Conference at the Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, reinforcing a unified and proactive approach to ensuring peace, security, and sustainable development across Metro Manila.
Presided over by DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Marlo L. Iringan, representing Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for NCR and DILG Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla, the conference brought together members of the Joint Regional Task Force, national government agencies, local government units, and security sector partners.
In his directive message on behalf of Secretary Remulla, Usec. Iringan emphasized the urgency of sustaining operational momentum amid evolving security challenges in urban areas.
“We strengthened coordination, sustained operations, and intensified our presence on the ground. But we cannot slow down. In a region like NCR, small gaps become real risks,” he stressed.
The conference underscored the importance of continuous vigilance, particularly in protecting vulnerable sectors and strengthening community resilience against emerging threats.
Executive Director of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, Ernesto C. Torres Jr., provided strategic guidance reaffirming the national government’s whole-of-nation approach and the need for stronger inter-agency synergy.
Key agenda items focused on updates on accomplishments and strategic directions of the Task Force; alignment with national policies and guidance; situational assessments on emerging sectoral and urban concerns; and strengthening coordination mechanisms and operational frameworks among member-agencies.
The Task Force also adopted several key resolutions, including reaffirming the commitment of member-agencies to shared national and regional priorities; enhancing inter-agency coordination, capacity-building, and operational efficiency; and institutionalizing improvements in systems, processes, and support mechanisms to ensure timely and effective implementation of programs.
DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that all agreements and action points are effectively monitored and implemented. The conference concluded with a renewed call for unity, discipline, and decisive action among all member-agencies.
The JRTF-NCR remains a critical platform for harmonizing government efforts in promoting peace, strengthening governance, and advancing inclusive development in the National Capital Region.
