Demonstrating excellence in public service communication and citizen engagement, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), through the combined efforts of the DILG Central Office, the DILG National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), and the Local Government Academy (LGA), emerged as the Champion (Best Marketing Strategies Category) in the Kalayaan 2026 Government Programs and Services (GPS) awarding ceremony held at the Rizal Park in the City of Manila on June 7, 2026. The DILG booth earned an outstanding score of 98.3%, securing the top spot among participating government agencies. As champion, the DILG also received a cash prize of Php 75,000.00 in recognition of its exemplary marketing strategies and effective promotion of government programs and services.

The award-winning DILG booth highlighted the Department’s key initiatives, programs, and innovations in local governance. Through informative displays, interactive trivia games, a public query center, and responsive personnel, the booth effectively communicated its commitment to responsive, accountable, and people-centered governance. The booth also drew one of the largest crowd turnouts during the event, largely due to the wide array of delicacies, souvenir items, and tokens generously provided by the NCR local government units of Manila, Mandaluyong, Pasig, San Juan, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Taguig, and Pateros, which were distributed as prizes.

The support of the National Capital Region local government units also helped showcase the rich cultural heritage and unique offerings of their respective communities. The interactive and informative experience fostered greater public awareness of DILG programs and services while promoting local pride and citizen engagement.

The Kalayaan Government Programs and Services (GPS) exhibit, conducted from June 6 to 7, 2026, formed part of the nationwide celebration of the 128th anniversary of Philippine Independence. The event showcased the various programs, projects, and frontline services of government agencies, bringing public services closer to Filipino citizens through interactive exhibits and information campaigns.
