Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla paid tribute to the unwavering commitment of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the nation’s ongoing campaign against illegal drugs, during the 2025 PDEA Annual Awards held on August 22, 2025 at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.

“In moments like this, we must come together to celebrate, to recognize, and to express our gratitude,” Secretary Remulla said, as he praised the dedication and sacrifices made daily by law enforcement agencies in pursuit of a safer and drug-free Philippines. He emphasized the critical role played by both the PNP and PDEA, highlighting the risks they face in their line of duty.

One of the event’s highlights was the recognition of the City of San Juan, led by Mayor Francis Zamora, which was awarded the prestigious Balangay Seal of Excellence for being the first city in Metro Manila to achieve “Drug-Cleared” status under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program Regional Oversight Committee.

Remulla lauded the city’s achievement, especially its non-violent approach in addressing the drug problem. “Violence is no longer necessary to resolve conflict. It takes hard work, patience, and commitment. It takes everyday heroes like you, those who choose to protect and build communities through perseverance and service,” he said.

In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s national agenda of peace, order, and inclusive development, Secretary Remulla called on law enforcement agencies and local government units to remain steadfast in their service to the Filipino people.
