The Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) underwent a comprehensive performance audit conducted by the Commission on Audit (COA) to assess the region’s efforts in mainstreaming Gender and Development (GAD) across its programs, policies, and operations on September 2, 2025 at the DILG-NCR Regional Office in North Avenue, Quezon City.

The COA Team, consisting of Atty. Gretchen B. delos Reyes, Ms. Nelia Alyssa A. Lomahan, and Ms. Johanna Marie M. Buenaobra, was warmly received by Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III, Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn R. Baltazar-Cortez, CESO IV, along with the division and section chiefs of the DILG National Capital Region.

The audit covered key elements essential to institutionalizing gender-responsive governance in the DILG National Capital Region, which included assessing the timeliness, completeness, and quality of accomplishment reports submitted by DILG-NCR, as well as the ability of the Department to effectively address gender issues with measurable outcomes, reflecting the agency’s accountability and transparency in gender mainstreaming.

As the Department continues its collaboration with local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila, it remains committed to strengthening its own capacity to implement gender-responsive policies and programs, in line with the Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710) and other related directives.

The DILG-NCR is optimistic that through continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation, the vision of a gender-fair and inclusive society can be fully realized.
