In a strong demonstration of commitment to responsive and accessible healthcare, the City Government of Valenzuela City marked its 28th Cityhood Anniversary with the ceremonial blessing and turnover of 33 brand-new ambulances—one for each barangay—on February 14, 2026. The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) expressed its full support for the initiative, recognizing it as a vital investment in strengthening local governance and emergency response capability. The agency was represented during the celebration by Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Marda Alina Dumaoang-Acoba, affirming DILG-NCR’s commitment to empowering local government units in delivering efficient, accessible, and compassionate public service.

Leading the ceremonial turnover was Mayor Wes Gatchalian, joined by Guest of Honor Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who delivered an inspirational message highlighting the importance of investing in emergency healthcare systems at the grassroots level. Also present in support of the city’s initiatives was 2nd District Representative Gerald Galang. The milestone celebration commemorates the city’s establishment through Republic Act No. 8526, otherwise known as the “Charter of the City of Valenzuela.” Beyond honoring nearly three decades of progress, the occasion underscored the city’s unwavering commitment to strengthening frontline services and safeguarding the health and well-being of its residents.

Representing the 33 barangays, Liga ng mga Barangay President and Councilor Mario San Andres expressed heartfelt gratitude for the continued and substantial support extended by the city leadership and national government partners. The event was likewise attended by the Vice Mayor, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Punong Barangays, and other barangay officials, reflecting a united front in advancing public health initiatives.

As Valenzuela City celebrates 28 years of cityhood, the turnover of these ambulances stands as a tangible symbol of progress and unity, an enduring pledge that every barangay is equipped to respond swiftly in times of medical emergencies and life-saving care.

In supporting this initiative, DILG-NCR affirms that empowering local government units with adequate resources and modern equipment is essential to building safer, more resilient communities. The Department stands in solidarity with the City Government of Valenzuela in its continued pursuit of responsive, efficient, and compassionate governance that places the welfare of every resident at the forefront.
