The Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) actively supported the successful conduct of Kapihan sa DILG: Mapayapang Pasko at Ligtas na Bagong Taon, which was hosted by the Public Affairs Communications Service (PACS) held on December 12, 2025, at the Quezon City Reception House, 10th Street, New Manila, Quezon City. Representing the DILG National Capital Region were DILG Parañaque City Director John A. Visca, CESO V and Regional Information Officer Ronald R. Portales.

The activity was highlighted by the active participation of the Parañaque City Government, reinforcing the commitment of local government units (LGUs) to ensure public safety, peace and order, and economic vitality during the Christmas and New Year season. With 2025 being a challenging year for many Filipinos, the Kapihan served as an important platform to discuss budget-friendly, safe, and lawful ways of celebrating the holidays, especially in the most densely populated region in the country, the National Capital Region (NCR).

During the discussion, Mr. Cissette Ricardo of the Parañaque City Tourism Office emphasized the importance of fireworks safety and strict compliance with existing laws and local ordinances. He also highlighted the availability of 24/7 emergency response teams, increased police visibility, traffic management operations, fire and medical readiness, and disaster response units to ensure the safety and well-being of constituents amid increased holiday activities.

Given the more stringent regulations on fireworks use, the Kapihan clarified that individuals who wish to use fireworks must do so only in areas officially designated by their LGUs, in coordination with barangays, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP). These measures aim to prevent fire incidents, injuries, and property damage during the holiday season.

DILG-NCR reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening coordination among LGUs, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to maintain peace and order throughout the holiday season. Through platforms like Kapihan sa DILG, local governments are empowered to share best practices, align policies, and ensure that holiday celebrations remain peaceful, safe, and inclusive.

As the year comes to a close, DILG-NCR and its partner LGUs, including the Parañaque City Government, continue to call on the public to celebrate responsibly and to work together toward a Mapayapang Pasko at Ligtas na Bagong Taon para sa lahat.
