The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) attended the 2025 Green Legacy Awards on December 5, 2025, where the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) honored outstanding partners and stakeholders for their contributions to environmental protection, sustainability, and community mobilization across Metro Manila.
Representing Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, the DILG-NCR Division Chief, Marda Alina R. Dumaoang-Acoba, conveyed the Department’s appreciation to DENR-NCR for convening partners in this significant gathering. She emphasized the theme “Greenership: Building a Sustainable NCR Together” signifies a vital truth: environmental responsibility cannot be carried out by one sector alone. It demands collective action, purposeful collaboration, and shared leadership to build a greener and more resilient National Capital Region.
Highlighting the DILG-NCR’s mandate of working closely with local government units, she noted that environmental governance is central to ensuring safe, livable, and well-managed communities. Efforts such as waste management, river rehabilitation, water security, urban greening, and disaster resilience are deeply interconnected with the work of DENR, LGUs, civil society, and the private sector.
The recognition of DILG-NCR as one of DENR-NCR’s key partners serves as a renewed call to strengthen coordination mechanisms, uplift LGU capacities in environmental compliance, and promote innovations that support sustainability in densely populated and highly urbanized settings like Metro Manila.
Looking toward 2025 and beyond, DILG-NCR reaffirmed its commitment to continue working in genuine partnership with stakeholders to advance responsive policies and long-term environmental initiatives.
The Department congratulates DENR-NCR, the awardees, and all partners whose dedication reflects the shared belief that environmental stewardship is a legacy built together.
