The DILG National Capital Region joins the nation in commemorating Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) this September 2025, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable maritime governance, coastal protection, and empowering local communities in the Philippines’ vast archipelagic landscape.

Proclaimed under Presidential Proclamation No. 316, s. 2017, MANA Mo highlights the Philippines’ identity as a maritime and archipelagic nation, emphasizing the importance of marine conservation, maritime security, and inclusive development of coastal communities.

With September being declared as the “Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month”, among the initiatives by the Department is to continuously promote and strengthen public awareness on the nation’s rich maritime heritage and the vital role of local government units (LGUs) in protecting the country’s marine and coastal resources. All DILG-NCR employees are also advised to support SEAtizen Friday by wearing blue work attire on all Fridays of the month of September.

The DILG-NCR reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the objectives of MANA Mo 2025 and enjoins all sectors of society to actively contribute to the collective effort of safeguarding our maritime domains, in the interest of national sovereignty, security, and sustainable development.
