In celebration of its 37th anniversary, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) launched a series of capability development initiatives aimed at enhancing public service delivery and promoting safe and inclusive workplaces in the public sector.
The kick-off anniversary activities began with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Jude Besinga, who also blessed all the DILG-NCR Regional Office workstations. This solemn celebration provided an opportunity for reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to the Departmentâs mission of service to the Filipino people.
In the welcoming remarks, DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III mentioned how the anniversary serves as a reminder of the dedication of the public servants who have been with the Department.
âThis anniversary celebration is more than just a milestone, it is a reflection of our enduring commitment to the ideals of public service. Over the past 37 years, we have seen the Department evolve, overcome challenges, and grow stronger in its resolve to serve the Filipino people with integrity, dedication, and compassion. Each year marks not only the achievements we’ve made, but also the countless lives we’ve touched through our shared work. As we honor the journey behind us, we also look ahead with hope and determination, to inspire a new generation of leaders who will carry forward our mission and continue building a more responsive, inclusive, and resilient government for decades to come,â Regional Director Agustin emphasized.
The kick-off activities included training sessions on Gender-Fair Communication, Housekeeping for the Public Sector, Fire and Safety Hazards, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards. These initiatives are part of DILG-NCRâs ongoing efforts to promote professional excellence, workplace safety, and gender sensitivity across local government units (LGUs) and both regional and field contingents.
These capability-building programs also contribute to the continued strengthening of the Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC), DILG-NCRâs knowledge and innovation hub. By enhancing the competencies of personnel and enriching the pool of shared knowledge, the LGRC is further empowered to support LGUs with up-to-date tools, practices, and resources for effective governance.
DILG-NCR Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn R. Baltazar-Cortez, CESO IV also shared an inspirational message during the ceremony.
âThis occasion is not merely a celebration, it is a powerful reminder of our shared purpose: to uphold good governance, strengthen our local institutions, and serve with compassion at the heart of everything we do. Every action we take, no matter how small, has the power to transform lives and move our communities, and our nation, toward a brighter, more inclusive future.â ARD Baltazar-Cortez mentioned.
The DILG-NCR remains committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation, in line with its mission to build resilient, efficient, and people-centered local governance.
