The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) participated in a coordination meeting with the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) to discuss its proposed specialized course, the Master in Crises and Disaster Risk Management (MCDRM). Held via Zoom on April 8, 2026, the coordination meeting was attended by representatives from DILG Regional Offices in Regions III, IV-A, and NCR, along with key stakeholders from Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and ARISE Philippines.

The MCDRM course serves as a national platform for strengthening catastrophe preparedness and response through the establishment of a dedicated Metro Manila Catastrophe Preparedness and Response Special Cohort (MM-CPR-MC). In light of the potential nationwide impact of “The Big One” in the National Capital Region, the program aims to develop a cadre of local leaders equipped in catastrophe governance and enhance the interoperability framework of local governments across neighboring regions.

Through sustained engagement with PPSC and other partner agencies, the Department continues to uphold its mandate of supporting capacity-building programs that reinforce disaster preparedness and response in our region.
