The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region Project Development and Monitoring Unit (DILG-NCR PDMU) successfully carried out the Regional Roundtable on Infrastructure Audit Implementation, attended by the DILG – Office of Project Development Services (DILG-OPDS), DILG-NCR, DILG field officers, and LGU functionaries.
Held on August 1, 2025, at the B Hotel, Quezon City, the roundtable discussion sought to engage with the local government officials in sharing important updates, prevailing challenges, notable lessons, and ways forward in the implementation of the Infrastructure Audit (IA). Moreover, this session aimed to assess the capacity of Local Government Units (LGUs) to evaluate their government buildings and facilities, ensuring sustainable and disaster-resilient infrastructure across the region.
The session began with a welcoming message delivered by the DILG-NCR Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) Acting Chief Lugi D.C. Pilarta, where he reflected on the necessity of conducting IA to intensify disaster preparedness in our community.
âAs partners in local governance, we share the responsibility of ensuring that we are not only prepared but truly resilientâboth locally and in line with our national and regional commitments,â Acting Chief Pilarta added.
Five participating LGUs, cities of Marikina, Muntinlupa, Pasig, Taguig, and Quezon City, shared updates on the implementation of the harmonized IA in their respective local structures, highlighting best practices as well as key challenges encountered. Subsequently, the DILG-OPDS facilitated a discussion on reviewing the existing guidelines and clarifying the roles of focal persons in the conduct of IA.
DILG-NCR PDMU Chief Dennis R. de Paz concluded the session with his closing message, commending the participants for their valuable insights and recommendations in the conduct of IA. He affirmed that the discussion shed light on both the current learnings and prevailing challenges within LGUs, paving the way for improved implementation of the harmonized tool in the region.
The Department remains dedicated to ensuring an effective project monitoring and evaluation framework in NCR. Through its technical capacity-building programs and dialogues, the LGUs are empowered to effectively monitor project implementation, identify gaps, and apply evidence-based improvements in local infrastructure development.
