To ensure the seamless delivery of digital services and maintain the integrity of its growing data ecosystem, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), through its Regional Information and Communication Technology Unit (RICTU), convened a strategic technical meeting which focused on the modernization and maintenance of the Region’s ICT landscape on April 16, 2026 at the Matino Room of the DILG-NCR Regional Office.
The meeting, presided over by RICTU Chief Lennie M. Yap, served as a platform to recalibrate the Department’s strategies regarding Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Office Productivity, the LGU Information Management Program, and the optimization of LAN/WAN and IP Telephony systems.
As DILG-NCR continues to digitize its processes, Chief Yap emphasized that the expansion of various information systems has led to a significant surge in data volumes. To address this, the RICTU team highlighted the urgent necessity of maintaining and upgrading the current network and security infrastructure. The discussions centered on fortifying the Department’s equipment and network backbone to prevent downtime and ensure that the LGU Information Management Program remains a reliable resource for local governance data.
Recognizing that infrastructure is only as effective as the people who utilize it, the meeting also underscored the importance of productivity-enhancing tools. As technology advances, the RICTU remains committed to equipping DILG-NCR officials and employees with the latest ICT tools, software, and equipment. This initiative aims to streamline workflows, improve response times, and foster a more digitally competent workforce capable of meeting the challenges of modern public service.
The strategic session was attended by the specialized personnel from RICTU, including Network Administrators, Information System Analysts and Researchers, Data Analysts, Database Administrators, and Computer Maintenance Technologists.
By bringing together these diverse technical roles, the RICTU ensures a holistic approach to troubleshooting and system enhancement—ranging from back-end database stability to front-end user productivity. Moving forward, the DILG National Capital Region remains steadfast in its mission to provide a robust, secure, and highly efficient digital environment, ensuring that the Department remains Matino, Mahusay, at Maaasahan in the digital age.
