In a unified effort to promote preparedness and safety in the face of natural disasters, the Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) successfully participated in the Nationwide Earthquake Drill on March 12, 2026. The drill was held at the DILG-NCR Regional Office at the SRA Compound on North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City, alongside other government agencies located at the same site.
The annual nationwide earthquake drill, organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), aims to assess and improve the preparedness of the government, communities, and individuals in responding to seismic events. With the growing importance of disaster readiness, this exercise also serves to raise awareness on how to react during an earthquake, ensuring that everyone is equipped with the knowledge to protect themselves and others in case of an emergency.
At the DILG-NCR Regional Office, employees regularly participated in activities designed to simulate real-life earthquake scenarios, including evacuation drills, emergency response protocols, and safety measures. The drill also highlighted the agency’s role in guiding local government units in strengthening disaster resilience at the grassroots level.
The Nationwide Earthquake Drill is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of preparedness and build resilience in communities. With more frequent natural disasters around the world, it is vital for all citizens to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to mitigate risk and protect lives in times of crisis.
The DILG National Capital Region remains steadfast in its commitment to building resilient communities. Through proactive measures, collaborative efforts, and a shared sense of responsibility, the DILG-NCR will continue to lead by example, ensuring that every local government unit is equipped to respond swiftly and effectively, keeping the safety and well-being of every Filipino at the forefront.
