The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), through the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED), convened the Local Government Units and partner agencies for the 2026 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) Regional Orientation on March 19, 2026 via Zoom Teleconferencing.
The orientation aimed to provide updates on the audit timeline, and opened the opportunity for the LGUs and the RIMTF to suggest possible improvements to the assessment.
Members of the Regional Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force (RIMTF) led the technical discussions on the CFLGA indicators organized by pillar during the orientation. Representatives from the Department of Health – Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) and the National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) presented the Survival pillar, while the Department of Social Welfare and Development – NCR (DSWD-NCR) and the Department of Education – NCR (DepEd-NCR) discussed the Development pillar, highlighting programs related to child health, nutrition, early childhood care, and education.
Meanwhile, RCWC-NCR Regional Coordinator Gladys M. Rodriguez discussed the Protection and Participation pillars, explaining coordinated child protection systems and children’s involvement in local governance mechanisms. LGOO V Arnie Paquiz of DILG-NCR presented the Governance pillar, in institutional mechanisms such as local databases on children that support child-friendly governance.
The CFLGA serves as the DILG’s results-based annual assessment of how cities and municipalities implement programs and establish systems that promote and protect the welfare of children.
Through the assessment, the Department continues to strengthen the capacity of local governments to establish systems that safeguard children’s rights and improve their well-being, contributing to the broader goal of building child-friendly communities throughout the Region.
