The Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), together with the agencies of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee (RIAC), successfully conducted the 2025 Planning Workshop-cum-Orientation on the LGU Compliance Assessment (CA) Tool under the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program (MBCRP) on November 25–26, 2025.
On November 25, the DILG-NCR convened the RIAC Planning Workshop, bringing together national government agencies and field offices to further strengthen and harmonize compliance monitoring efforts within the Manila Bay. The workshop focused on aligning the RIAC’s goals and objectives for MBCRP implementation and reviewing its assessment framework, tools, and methodologies to ensure consistency and objectivity in evaluating LGU compliance. The workshop served as a platform to identify and prioritize key compliance areas and indicators that require greater emphasis in the upcoming assessment cycles.
On November 26, the activity continued with the Orientation and Workshop for Local Government Units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region. This session aimed to improve LGU capacity by familiarizing them with the Compliance Assessment (CA) Tool, enhancing their understanding of indicators, requirements, and documentation standards. This engagement is expected to improve the quality of LGU submissions and readiness for future compliance assessments.
The two-day activity concluded with the development of a collective action plan and strategic roadmap integrating RIAC priorities and LGU commitments. This unified roadmap aims to reinforce coordinated efforts toward the long-term rehabilitation, protection, and preservation of Manila Bay.
Through this initiative, DILG-NCR reaffirms its commitment to fostering collaborative governance and empowering LGUs in fulfilling their vital role in advancing sustainable and resilient coastal management across Metro Manila.
