The Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) recently celebrated its 37th Founding Anniversary at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City on October 27, 2025 highlighting its commitment to mental wellness, inclusivity, and respect for SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics) within both its workforce and the communities it serves.

Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III, emphasized that the anniversary is not only a commemoration of DILG-NCR’s years of service but also a recognition of the humanity behind public service. “In public service, caring for ourselves is not selfish, it is essential. We lift ourselves up, so that we can lift others even higher,” she said.

The celebration featured wellness activities, including guided mindfulness sessions, mental health talks, open discussions on SOGIESC, and a high-energy Zumba session to promote physical fitness and team bonding. The sessions, led by Thea Marie C. Santiago from the Metro Manila Center for Health Development, Norben V. Gomez from the Gender and Development Office of Pasig City, and Zumba Instructor Jyza Magluyan, equipped employees with practical tools to manage stress, foster empathy, and celebrate diversity.

Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn R. Baltazar-Cortez, CESO IV, reminded employees to strengthen unity and collaboration within the organization. “Let us use this moment to celebrate our collective achievements and renew our shared commitment to empower local governments and build communities that are safe, resilient, and progressive,” she said.

As it looks toward the future, DILG-NCR continues to champion a culture of compassion, inclusion, and well-being, proving that effective local governance begins with caring for those within the organization.
