As part of Component II: Supervised Field Work (SFW) of the 60th Batch Apprenticeship Program for LGOOs II and III, representatives from DILG NCR paid a courtesy call to various Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Province of Tarlac on July 6, 2026. LGOO VI/Section Chief Benjielyn F. Yu-Roxas and LGOO III Elgreco B. Flores from the Local Government Capability and Development Division (LGCDD) met with the apprentices’ respective SFW supervisors and LGU officials from the municipalities of Victoria, Gerona, Pura, Camiling, and Anao in the province of Tarlac to facilitate the deployment of five (5) DILG–NCR apprentices for their Supervised Field Work in the said municipalities.
The Apprenticeship Program for LGOOs II and III is a flagship initiative of the Department under the Local Government Academy (LGA). It reflects a steadfast commitment to professionalizing public service and strengthening local governance.
Established to bridge theory and practice, the program provides aspiring LGOOs with structured, experiential learning that immerses them in the realities of local government operations. Through this comprehensive approach, apprentices gain not only technical competence but also a deep appreciation of the responsibilities, challenges, and profound impact of governance at the grassroots level.
Component II is designed to provide apprentices with real-world scenarios where they can field-test the theories, concepts, and principles learned during Component I. Over the next two (2) and a half months, this phase will expose them to the actual dynamics of local governance and field operations. While implementing their respective Action Plans, the apprentices will perform the practical functions of a higher-level LGOO in the field under the direct guidance of an SFW supervisor.
Through this collaborative field deployment, DILG NCR and DILG Central Luzon (Region III), including the SFW Supervisors reaffirm their shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of Matino, Mahusay, at Maasahang Local Government Operations Officers. By bridging the gap between classroom learning and hands-on field experience, the Apprenticeship Program continues to build a pool of highly competent, resilient, and forward-thinking LGOOs who are ready to drive meaningful development in their respective field assignments.
As the apprentices embark on this transformative phase of their training, the Department remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate competent, ethical, and service-oriented Local Government Operations Officers. Through the continued partnership of DILG National Capital Region, DILG Central Luzon, the participating LGUs, and dedicated SFW Supervisors, the Apprenticeship Program ensures that the country’s future LGOOs are well-equipped to uphold excellence in public service and contribute meaningfully to responsive, resilient, and people-centered local governance.
