
Marking the second rollout of this yearâs BRAVE AKO Training Program, a total of 19 barangays from Quezon City joined a comprehensive session on Barangay Development Planning held on August 4, 2025, at Ardenhills Suites, Quezon City.
In his welcoming remarks, DILG Quezon City Field Office City Director Emmanuel D. Borromeo, CESO V underscored the vital role of public servants in strengthening local preparedness efforts amid increasing climate and disaster risks.
DILG-NCR Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) Acting Chief Luigi D.C. Pilarta subsequently presented a brief overview of the training program, highlighting the urgent need for multi-stakeholder collaboration and accountability in light of the forecasted movement of the West Valley Fault System.
As part of Module 102, Capacity Development and Technical Assistance Section Chief Rhona Grace D. Perola of LGCDD facilitated an in-depth session on the BDP Process. Participants were guided through key planning steps, such as conducting situational analysis, ranking and prioritizing community issues, setting the goals and objectives, and identifying programs, projects, and activities.
Complementing this was a discussion on mainstreaming disaster resilience into local development planning, led by DILG Quezon City Field Office DRRM Focal Person Benjielyn F. Yu-Roxas. During the session, participants gained hands-on knowledge in applying DRRM tools, which are crucial for developing risk-informed plans.
With the planning groundwork laid on Day 1, participants are set to be equipped with essential response skills in the upcoming modules, further enhancing their capacity to act swiftly and effectively in times of crisis.
