
Following the rollouts in the City of Pasig and Quezon City, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), together with the DILG Taguig Field Office, implemented the Barangay Resilience Advocates Volunteer Group – Advanced Knowledge and Operations (BRAVE AKO) Training Program for the City of Taguig on August 18-20, 2025, at Astoria Plaza, Ortigas Business District, City of Pasig.
To officially commence the training, DILG Taguig Field Office City Director Alona R. Raymundo, CESO V delivered her welcome remarks, urging participants to be proactive and strategic in preparing their barangays in light of the anticipated 7.2 magnitude earthquake known as âThe Big One.â
Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) Assistant Chief Maria Jasmin D. Diaz and LGOO III John Benedict J. Asuncion facilitated discussions under Module 102, which focused on updating Barangay Development Plans (BDPs) and integrating disaster resilience into the local development planning process. Participants also took part in various workshops, including hazard mapping, analyzing risks, and identifying risk-informed programs, projects, and activities.
The training brought together members of Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs) and representatives of civil society organizations from 10 barangays situated within the one-kilometer buffer hazard zone of the West Valley Fault System.
Through the BRAVE AKO Training Program, participants are expected to establish a shared and deeper understanding of the potential hazards and risks associated with âThe Big One,â and foster knowledge exchange on various disaster preparedness measures and approaches.
